IEC in the Community
Supporting One AnotherSUPPORTING ONE ANOTHER
The members of the Island Employee Corporative feel that it is important for businesses to be engaged within the communities that are served. To this end, the IEC has held fund-raisers and made donations to several area organizations where the benefit would continue to provide for the island community.
As a worker-owned cooperative, we take seriously our mission to support our island community. With so many worker-owners, at least one of us is likely to be friends, neighbors or relatives with most everyone on the island!
This is why we care so much and want to give back what we can to our community. In our first year of operation, the Island Employee Cooperative reached out to support many of our community institutions including:
The Deer Isle and Stonington Volunteer Fire Departments
The Island Food Pantry for Thanksgiving dinners
Deer Isle-Stonington High School Sports Boosters for uniforms and equipment
Christmas toys for island kids
